The University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business is well known for its top-tier academic curriculum but beyond the classroom, there are many opportunities Daniels students should take advantage of to get the most out of their undergraduate experience.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS:
There are many student organizations at Daniels. From Women in Business to the Finance Club to Delta Sigma Pi, there is a club for nearly every major and business interest. Club events allow participants to meet fellow students in their major and build a greater network within Daniels. Additionally, these clubs can go on a student’s resume, showing their involvement on campus.
SPEAKER EVENTS
Daniels often offers speaker events featuring notable alumni and professionals from the Denver area. With alumni in many industries, these speakers can offer insights into navigating college and the corporate world, providing invaluable knowledge to current students. For example, the Finance Club just had a DU alum who now works at Goldman Sachs provide a virtual talk about working in the corporate finance world.
CASE COMPETITIONS
This has been one of my favorite experiences as a Daniels student. A case competition provides students with the opportunity to work on a team to solve creative problems. For students interested in working in consulting, these competitions are a great first step. The judges for these competitions are great professional connections to make and most competitions have prize money associated as well. Furthermore, winning case competitions can look great on a student’s resume, showing their ability to come up with solutions and communicate them effectively.

DANIELS SPRINTS
Daniels offers one-day, 1-credit Sprints, teaching students crucial technical skills in a short amount of time. Sprints offer training in programs like Salesforce, Tableau and Google Analytics. These programs are widely used in the corporate world and understanding them on a deep level makes students strong candidates for internships and jobs. Different programs are offered each quarter allowing students to create a diverse portfolio of technical skills.
FACULTY CONNECTIONS
Last but certainly not least are the outside-of-the-classroom faculty mentorships and connections Daniels students can make with professors. I have been the administrative assistant for one of my freshman-year professors and this connection has led to an expanded network in business and a great mentorship as well. Because of small class sizes within Daniels, students can get to know their professors well and take full advantage of these relationships. The professors at Daniels are knowledgeable about the industry, open to help students, and have vast professional networks that can help with jobs and internships.
The time to get involved with the five opportunities above is now. Daniels offers a multitude of experiences and resources to students, making them more marketable candidates for future employment. Furthermore, by being more involved in all that Daniels has to offer, students will be more engaged members of the College, getting the most out of their time as DU business students.
